In the pink for cancer awareness

All decked out and pretty in pink for a worthy cause, the Compton Commission on Women chaired by Mary Lawson, center holding proclamation, proudly display their efforts to raise awareness about breast cancer last Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the lobby of City Hall. October is each year recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the commission annually does a little something special to spread the word and educate both men and women about the dangers of breast cancer. The women are clad in varied shades of pink as a show of solidarity with those who have fought, are fighting or have lost their battle with breast cancer. —Photo by Shon Smith of D'Angelo's Photos
