Man Shot Dead in Front Yard
One arrested, two others on the loose after fatal shooting

COMPTON – One man was in custody and two others on the run in connection with a deadly shooting Sunday, Aug. 24.

Twenty-six-year-old Diego Begines was in his front yard at roughly 8:20 p.m. when three male suspects approached him, said Deputy Aura Sierra of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

One of the suspects brandished a handgun and shot Begines in the chest several times, Sierra said.

Begines was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects ran, but one was apprehended by deputies and booked on suspicion of murder .
