Compton
Library to Close for Renovation
The
Compton Library will be closed for a major refurbishment project
beginning Monday, July 9. The last day of service to the public is
Saturday, July 7. It is anticipated that the library will re-open
in March 2008.
The Compton Library is getting a new look. The project includes interior
and exterior paint; new carpet; ceiling tile and window covering replacement;
refurbishment of the parking lot; library furniture re-upholstering; new
information desks and ADA upgrades of public restrooms. The project is
being funded by 2nd District Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke.
The nearest county libraries for customers seeking library service
are Lynwood Library, 11320 Bullis Rd., Lynwood; A C Bilbrew Library,
150 E. El Segundo Blvd., Los Angeles; East Rancho Dominguez Library, 4205
E.
Compton Blvd., East Rancho Dominguez.
While the library is closed, library staff will present the Summer
Reading Program and Bilingual Family Storytime at Wilson Park in Compton.
They will also provide homework assistance and library resources in the
Learning Center at the Sheriff’s Department Youth Athletic League,
700 N. Alameda St.
During the closed period, customers may return books to an outside
bookdrop at the Compton Library, 240 West Compton Blvd., Compton or to
any other county library.
The Compton Library is part of the county of Los Angeles Public Library.
