High School Varsity Football-CIF Champions...Again!

The Dominguez High School
varsity football team poses outside the Compton Unified School District’s
Board of Trustees meeting two weeks ago. The team recently won its
second CIF championship in a row.
The
Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees recognized and
presented the Dominguez High School varsity football team with
a plaque recently for its win at the 2006 CIF-SS Division III championship.
Administrators, faculty and parents gave the players a standing
ovation at the January 23rd board meeting, where the presentation
was made. But this isn’t the team’s first time bringing
home the gold. The Dons were the 2005 CIF Southern Section Division
III champion. The Dons did it again Dec. 8 when they defeated West
Torrance High at the Western Division final.
Brandon Johnson, running back for the Dons, was named Press-Telegram’s
Dream Team Offensive Player of the Year. After being sought out by
many colleges as one of West Coast’s most heavily-recruited
running back, he has recently committed to the University of Washington.
Maurice Simmons was named defensive MVP.
