Local Nonprofit to Host Holiday Gospel Concert, Toy Drive

From staff reports

COMPTON—The Young American National Awareness Campaign (YANAC), a local nonprofit, announces its 18th Annual Toy and Gift Drive as a means to being some joy into the lives of underprivileged families within the community this holiday season.

Besides asking local businesses to post fliers and collect toys at their respective locations, YANAC will host “A Special Christmas Love” Gospel concert this Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. at Trinity Chapel Life Center, 2813 N. Wilmington Ave.

The concert will feature saxophonist Dr. Alvin McKinney, Latino Gospel rapper Ricky Beltran and Lynwood Worship Center’s Praise Team among others. The concert is free, but attendees are asked to bring one or more unwrapped new toys and gifts to be distributed to poverty stricken children Dec. 20.

On that day, YANAC will provide “A Special Christmas Love” presentation for 10 local families that will be selected through a joint effort including the Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Superior Court, Compton Unified School District, Trinity Chapel Life Center, The Grace Elliott Center and New Life Beginning Inc.

The families will be treated to an early Christmas dinner in addition to the distribution of toys and gift certificates.

For more information, call YANAC founder and CEO the Rev. Gregory Alexander at (310) 762-9695 or (310) 989-8271 or send an e-mail to YANACCREW@Yahoo.com.
