Registration Underway for MLB Urban Youth Academy Spring League

Registration is currently underway for the spring instructional league at Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy.

Instruction is free, and the league runs from April 15-June 10.

The instructional league is open to girls and boys ages 7 – 14. Instruction for girls is Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 – 6:30 p.m. Instruction for boys is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 – 6:30 p.m. Instructional League games will be played every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Those registering in person must be accompanied by an adult, bring a valid birth certificate, a recent utility bill, a current photograph of the child they are registering, and fill out a release form. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, until filled.

The MLB Urban Youth Baseball Academy is part of Major League Baseball’s Urban Youth Initiative. Encompassing more than 15 acres on the campus of El Camino College, Compton Center, the academy is a state-of-the-art facility featuring four fields including a show field complete with scoreboard, grandstand seating, dugouts and lights; an auxiliary field; softball field; youth field; and a 12,000 square-foot clubhouse consisting of a weight room, locker room, and other training facilities, as well as batting cages and pitching mounds.

The academy operates on a year-round basis, offering free baseball and softball instruction, as well as clinics to youth throughout Southern California and is the permanent home of the annual Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) World Series presented by KPMG.
